Service Description

Setting & Who It's For: Designed for a small, intimate group of just 4 people, this intensive pottery workshop guarantees plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor. It is perfect for beginners wanting to build a strong foundation, or intermediates looking to refine their existing skills. The Experience: Over the course of 7 active studio days, we will cover everything from centering and wheel-throwing basics to developing consistency, experimenting with new forms, trimming, glazing, and surface techniques. Classes run from 10:00 to 13:00, leaving your afternoons completely free to explore Lisbon, enjoy the city, or simply relax. By the end of the course, you’ll not only take home your own handmade ceramics, but also a deeper understanding of the craft and the confidence to continue your pottery journey! Course Schedule (10:00 – 13:00): Week 1: Wednesday (Day 1): Centering & Wheel-Throwing Basics Thursday (Day 2): Building Skills: Cylinders & Bowls Friday (Day 3): Building Skills: Consistency in Form Saturday (Day 4): Building Skills: Exploring Unusual Shapes Sunday (Day 5): Trimming & Finishing (After Week 1, all pieces will be bisque fired in preparation for glazing) Week 2: Wednesday (Day 6): Glazing & Surface Techniques Thursday: (Studio Glaze Firing - No class) Friday (Day 7): Kiln Unloading & Drinks Celebration! Come together to admire your finished works with drinks and snacks. What’s Included & Additional Costs: Everything you need — instruction, wheel access, clay, tools, and glazing materials — is included in the €490 course fee. The only additional cost is a firing fee based on the weight of your finished pieces you choose to keep, calculated at €3.40 per kilo.

Step into the rhythm of the studio and dedicate intentional time to your craft. Limited to an intimate group of just four people, our Intensive Course offers a highly personalized learning environment with unparalleled instructor interaction. Whether you are an absolute beginner looking to build a strong foundation or an intermediate potter seeking to refine your technique, this seven-day immersion is meticulously designed to elevate your skills on the wheel.

We meet each morning from 10:00 to 13:00, leaving your afternoons wonderfully free. Wander through Marvila's art galleries, savor Lisbon's slow-living aesthetic, or simply relax by the river. By the end of our time together, you will leave not only with your own handmade ceramics but with a profound, lasting confidence in your craft.

The Syllabus

Our curriculum flows naturally through the complete ceramic lifecycle, ensuring you master every stage of the creative process.

Week 1: Shaping & Refining

Daily sessions from 10:00 to 13:00.

Day 1 — Wednesday: Centering & Wheel-Throwing Basics

Day 2 — Thursday: Building Skills: Cylinders & Bowls

Day 3 — Friday: Building Skills: Consistency in Form

Day 4 — Saturday: Building Skills: Exploring Unusual Shapes

Day 5 — Sunday: Trimming & Finishing

(Your pieces will rest and undergo their first bisque firing between weeks.)

Week 2: Glazing & Celebration

Day 6 — Wednesday: Glazing & Surface Techniques

Day 7 — Friday: Kiln Unloading & Drinks Celebration

The Details

​We provide everything you need to lose yourself in the process. Your course experience includes comprehensive instruction, dedicated wheel time, premium clay, studio tools, and a curated selection of house glazes. On our final Friday together, we will celebrate your progress and admire your finished work with complimentary natural wine and snacks straight from our bar.

Firing Fees:

To give you complete creative freedom, we only charge for the pieces you successfully create and choose to keep. After the final glaze firing, your finished ceramics are weighed and charged at a standard studio rate of 3.40€ per kilo.
